Frederike Johanna Heemskerk grabs Women’s 400m freestyle gold – Jose Finkel Trophy
Frederike Johanna Heemskerk of FIAT/MINAS grabbed gold medal of the Women’s 400m freestyle on day three of the 2012 Jose Finkel Trophy in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Wednesday, August 22.
Heemskerk astonished the crowd with her consistent performance in swimming events on day three of the tournament. With her fascinating efforts, she sustained her fastest qualification spot and captured gold medal of the event.
She remained in a full body length lead over her opponents throughout the event and tapped the finishing wall for the crown of the event with an effort of 4 minutes and 07.81 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by her teammate, Manuela Lyrio, who stayed 1.13 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 08.94 seconds for silver medal.
Third position of the event was obtained by Poliana Okimoto of CORINTHIANS/ABDEM, who stayed nearly three body lengths apart and produced a timing of 4 minutes and 12.00 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Jessica Bruin Cavalheiro of FFC/RJ, who stayed 1.37 seconds slower from securing third spot on the podium and ended fourth with a timing of 4 minutes and 13.37 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Isabelle Franca Longo of UNISANTA, who stayed 0.53 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end with a timing of 4 minutes and 13.90 seconds.
Subsequently, Longo was followed by Carolina Bilich of FIAT/MINAS, who stayed 2.52 seconds behind and settled on the finishing end as sixth best finisher with an effort of 4 minutes and 16.42 seconds.
Bilich was chased by Ana Marcela de Jesus da Cunha of UNISANTA, who stayed nearly 0.80 seconds behind and posted a time of 4 minutes and 17.26 seconds for seventh position.
Eight best spot of the race was gained by Isabela F O Silva of FIAT/MINAS, who stayed 0.38 seconds apart and posted an effort of 4 minutes and 17.64 seconds.
Furthermore, Heemskerk was contented with her form in the mediocre distant freestyle event and expressed her desire of accomplishing the same at higher levels of swimming.
