Fredrik Jacobson claws deeper into his lead in the third round of WGC HSBC Championship: Live leaderboard
Overnight leader Fredrik Jacobson has decided to pull everything to grab on to his hard-earned lead in the third round of the WGC HSBC Championship. He is still on top of the leaderboard and has already made the turn for the back nine at the scenic Sheshan
International Golf Club, Shanghai, China. The Swede carded three consecutive birdies on the opening holes of the front nine to further strengthen his lead on the third day on course and will be hoping to extend his lead till the end of the day in order to
start off the final round as leader. He has dropped just one shot so far at par-four, 9th and made up the loss with another birdie right after he made the turn.
Englishman Paul Casey, in search for his PGA Tour playing status, soared to the second slot on the leaderboard early in the morning, with his blistering performance on the front nine. A disastrous double-bogey, however, forced him to slide down the leaderboard.
He pulled in three birdies and stunning eagle at par-five, 8th.
World number six, Martin Kaymer, who carded rounds of 69 and 68 in the last two days, has now thrown him into contention pulling no fewer than six birdies this morning and has still to tee-off for the rest of the remaining four holes. He stumbled on two
consecutive bogeys on the second and third hole but has shown immense resilience to shoot back into form. He has not dropped a single shot since then.
World number three Rory McIlroy has kept a low profile in the tournament so far. He pulled in rounds of 70 and 69 and probably has now decided to go all-out for yet another title in the season. He has played 14 holes so far, carding five birdies in all and
has not dropped any shot. He is also accompanied by his girlfriend Tennis world number one Caroline Wozniacki and is often seen cheering for her boyfriend from the gallery.
Graeme McDowell, another top-ranked player fighting form vows, has played well since the start of his third round, carding four birdies in his blemish-free front nine. The 2010 US Open winner has not won a single title in the current year and has dropped
to number 15 on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) from a high of number five.
