Fredrik Jacobson leads after suspended second round
Fredrik Jacobson fired a four-under par 66 in the second round of the Travelers Championship, at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, to take the sole lead prior to the inclement weather forcing the game to be suspended on Friday, June 22, 2012.
Jacobson got off to a solid start on the back nine of the course and recorded two consecutive birdies, starting from the 11th hole followed by an amazing eagle on the par-five 13th hole.
“Well, started off really good today,” he said. “It was nice to get into a good start and get things running straightaway. So happy, really happy with being 4-under through four holes”.
According to him, he could have done even better if he had avoided missed birdie putts on the front nine of the course.
“Probably would have liked to have a couple of more as the day went on, but overall played really steady and made a few putts and a couple of good saves also along the way,” he said.
The only disappointment that he had was the bogey on the final hole of the day. He told that he could have two-putted after reaching the green. However, he miscalculated his shots and had to three-putt the hole.
“... You obviously can two-putt from there and probably should most of the time, but it certainly opened up the possibility for a three-putt where I left it, I should have probably hit it level or passed it in there for an easier putt,” he said.
In the meantime, Nathan Green and Charley Hoffman recorded three-under and five-under par scores, respectively, to share the second spot on the leaderboard.
Both the players have yet to complete their rounds, as they were only done with nine and six holes, respectively.
The highlight of Hoffman’s performance includes an amazing streak of five consecutive birdies starting from the 11th hole.
He looked a little disappointed when the game suspended, as he was in a great momentum that could have helped him sink some more birdies in the evening.
He will now continue the second round early Saturday morning, prior to the start of the third round.
