Colombian International, Fredy Guarin, has become a regular feature for the Portistas ever since being signed from Saint-Etienne in 2008. The 25-year-old was pivotal figure under Andre Villas-Boas last season and was an automatic starter.
However since the appointment of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitor-c36281 Pereira, Guarin has found game time hard to come by at Estadio do Dragao.
The new boss has seemingly favoured new recruit Steven Defour in his stead, while the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Belluschi-c13628 has also risen in the pecking order to join Joao Moutinho in midfield.
With is unwanted status at the helm, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Envigado-c39013 man has been linked with a plethora of sides since the summer.
Spanish giants, Real Madrid, were reportedly tracking the player’s progress and were thought to be considering a big-money swoop. Joining them in the race to sign the midfielder were AS Roma, who have since allegedly upped their interest in the talented
attacker.
The Italian giants have supposedly been keeping tabs on a host of Porto players, but Guarin is believed to be their favoured target. Luis Enrique’s men have been hunting for an able replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-De-Rossi-c10112, who has been on the radar of several European
clubs and is reported to be on his way out of the team.
Roma are thought to be contemplating an €8 million offer for the Coffee Growers International, but that still falls short of Porto reported €12 million asking price. While it was assumed that both parties could negotiate and reach an agreement, the move
has been quashed by the revelation made by Guarin’s agent.
The representative claims that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 have not made an official contact with the Portuguese champions and also said that the Dragons were not willing to part ways with the player at the moment.
Speaking to reporters, the advisor said that the Giallorossi had not lodged any proposals with Porto and even if they did, the club was unwilling to let his client leave Liga Sagres in the winter.
"I would like to point out that Roma have not made any proposals for the player, at least so far. If they are interested, then we are available to talk, but it is also true that Porto do not want to sell the player at this point.”
He concluded by firmly saying as the Italian outfit had not made any deal with the Azuis-e-Brancos and neither had any other club done so; the Colombian would not leave the Primeira Liga.
"If there is no agreement with Roma or any other club, Guarín will not leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 Ferreyra was quoted as saying.
With a move to Serie A ruled out for Fredy Guarin, it remains to be seen whether the player chooses to ply his trade in Portugal and look for greener pastures elsewhere.
