Free Agency – Top unrestricted free agents in NBA this off-season (Part-4)
Nene Hilario
The Brazilian Basketball player Nene has played for Denver Nuggets throughout his NBA career since he was selected during the 2002 NBA Draft who is now ranked as one of the top unrestricted free agents.
After making a decent star in the professional world, the 28 year old power forward Nene tagged himself as one of the best all-round performer in the league. One of the major drawbacks in his performance has been the consistency
factor which Nene has overcome since the last three seasons.
During the 2010-2011 season, Nene averaged 14.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game which shows the extent of his abilities as an all-round performer. With a height of 6 feet and 11 inches, Nene not only reaches the basket quite straightforwardly,
the big man also weighs down the best shooter of the opposition.
Even though the Denver has a number of players who are waiting in the wings for the contract extension however it seems like their first priority is going to be Nene.
One of the executives of Denver Nuggets Masai Ujiri said on team’s discussions with Nene. "We've been having good talks. We're making good progress, I think. And I think Nene is excited. We've met a few times with him and a few
times with his agent."
On the other Josh Kroenke, another executive from Denver wants to keep Nene for a longer period as he has strengthened the team tremendously in recent years.
“Nene is a player that we want to have here for a long time. He's been a backbone of ours for the last several years, and he's a big part of our future." Josh said.
While Nuggets are showing great interest in re-signing Nene, many NBA teams will also be planning to make an offer to the NBA superstar. Which team will have him on the roster depends on Nene, who is expected to get a good deal
early on when the free agency will take place.
Caron Butler
The NBA Champion Caron Butler, who recently played for the Dallas Mavericks, is undoubtedly the top unrestricted free agent this year along with David West. The veteran small forward Butler was one of the vital pieces in the Mavericks
line-up in the beginning of the 2010-2011 season which kept the team on the winning track.
In order to undergo a knee surgery, Butler missed half of the season and didn’t make it into the play-offs as well. However Caron’s average of 15.0 points and 4.1 rebounds in the games he played during the last seasons and career
average of 16.6 points and 5.9 boards is what makes him one of the top free agents.
Dallas Mavericks is planning a long-term deal with Caron Butler who can help the team to defend their NBA title in the next season.
"After the championship was over, Donnie texted me and told me he wanted Caron to be part of the team long term. We are optimistic and hopeful that we'll come to an agreement that works for both sides." Butler’s agent Raymond Brothers
said.
Caron Butler stated that his knee is now fully recovered after the surgery which will enable him to carry the proceedings dominantly on the court once again.
