Free Agents who can help New York Knicks become legitimate NBA title contenders (Part-2)

DeAndre Jordan
The 23-year-old DeAndre Jordan is young, energetic and has the potential to make a huge recognition at the centre position. With a huge physique and incredible athleticism Jordan is man who makes the life difficult for the best
shooters of the oppositions.
A player like Jordan is the solution for New York Knicks poor defensive system. The Knicks have no problem whatsoever on the front court as they have two best offensive players Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire on the roster.
What really hampered the franchise from making a deep run in the play-offs was a no-show on the defence.
The Boston Celtics thrashed New York Knicks comprehensively in first round of the play-offs as their big three Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen had ample opportunity to break into the defensive system of the Knicks.
Landing DeAndre Jordan will give a major boost up to the New York Knicks on the back court. However, making a deal for Jordan is not going to be easy for New York as he is an unrestricted free agent and his draft team Los Angeles
Clippers can match any offer to keep the big man on the roster.
J.J. Barea
The Puerto Rican basketball player J.J. Barea, who was in the championship cast of the Dallas Mavericks in the last season, is a free agent and will be one of the biggest commodities of the free agency when the league will get
back to business.
Although, Dallas Mavericks would want to sign an extension with Barea and keep every player who was a part of their championship run in the last season. However, considering that the hard salary cap and amnesty clause will be a
part of the new Collective bargaining Agreement to resolve labour dispute, the Mavericks have to let go at least one player which brings Barea under the radar.
If that happens, New York Knicks must sign the 27-year-old point guard J.J. Barea who will strengthen the team on both the ends of the court. Barea provided a substantial support to Dallas Mavericks down the stretch to clinch the
first ever NBA title. In New York Knicks, Barea can provide the same support to the team as a starter to help Knicks make a deep run in the play-offs.
Jason Richardson
The 30-year-old Jason Richardson might have past his prime and he might not be as athletic and vibrant as he was back in 2001 when Golden State Warriors drafted him with the fifth overall pick. However Richardson has substantial
experience and he still has some good years left which can be extremely productive for any team who is planning an uphill.
For the growing line-up of New York Knicks, the addition of the dynamic shooting guard Jason Richardson will give the team some veteran guidance which is one of the major ingredients to make a deep run in the playoffs.
Though Orlando Magic will be interested to re-sign the contract with Jason Richardson, who posted a dominating performance in the last season, however, if New York Knicks place a good offer, they can have the Richardson on board.
