Free Island having leading claims in Breeders´ Cup Live Only On ATR Maiden Stakes at Lingfield
James Tate’s juvenile, Free Island, showed plenty of pace last time, when just caught by the favourite, Smart Daisy, at Wolverhampton earlier this month. After making a fine run over five furlongs, the young filly is in good shape, and has leading claims
in Wednesday’s Breeders´ Cup Live Only On ATR Maiden Stakes at Lingfield.
The 2-year-old started her career in September. Owned by Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum, the filly was quite impressive on her first outing. She ran brilliantly, and eventually notched up the runner-up spot. An excellent act right at the start of career
boosted up her confidence, which she utilised last time out.
The Car Colston Hall Stud-bred was not facing an easy opposition. Yet, she maintained the standards, and ran wonderfully throughout. Lack of luck, however, prevented her from grabbing the first rank. She missed the top rank only by half a length.
Having made a couple of terrific rides, the daughter of Kheleyf is fully pumped. She is in a great position to open her account today. An opposition of nine horses is waiting for her.
As per the plan, the 5f meeting will be kicked off at 12:30 GMT. Things might get tricky for a few participants, as the going is standard to slow. The competition is for a prize of £2,386.
North Pole is aiming for his first success. He has a bit to find back at 5f, but the punters are likely to show immense interest in him. Sir Mark Prescott Bt’s charge was an unlucky loser on his two starts at Wolverhampton. After ending up fourth in a field
of 10, the son of Compton Place finished fifth last time out. He surely has a role to play in this 5f contest.
Captain Cruz has quite a bit to find, but open to improvement on AW debut. Multitask was 7-length behind Captain Cruz on recent debut at Windsor, and would be among the strong runners.
No doubt, there are a few very powerful contestants in the race. But North Pole is the only main threat to Free Island. Good luck to all the contenders.
