Free Music Editing Program?

Question

I want to take a song and chop it up into seperate songs on my computer. I want them to be in the same format as a regular song so I can upload it to stuff. Is there anything like that out their on the web that i can trust?

Easily the best free Audio Editing software available is Audacity:

You can use it to record Audio from files, microphones, even record cassettes as MP3 files using the Line In port on your computer. There are also many options that allow you to play the music file in reverse, changing the pitch or tempo and many others.
