The One Day International (ODI) match between Free State Under-17s and Border Under-17s came to a thrilling end where Free State Under-17s grabbed a narrow win only by one wicket at Florida Park, Cape Town.
Border Under-17s, who chose to bat, got off to a flying start as openers B Isaacs and M Rasmussen forged a stand of 95, before Free State earned their first wicket of the day when Heilbron caught and bowled Rasmussen (42).
On the last delivery of the next over, B Isaacs also perished after scoring only 30 runs off 79 deliveries.
Things then started going awry for the batting side, as J Davids became the third wicket of the day, hitting the showers with three runs to his name. At the time of this wicket, the batting side had posted 98 runs on the board.
S Bolze, was unlucky today as he fell after scoring only two runs, leaving his side stranded on 102.
Leotlela then struck again as he nabbed A Rexe for nil, followed by the wicket of D Jasson, who was given lbw on the next delivery.
S Zono then pulled off a gutsy knock of 20 runs to help his side post 166 on the board.
Free State’s K Leotlela was remarkable today as he grabbed five wickets in his ten overs.

Free State Under-17s lost their second wicket with 27 runs on the scoreboard, as K Pienaar was trapped in front of stumps by Zono after hitting nine runs.
They certainly needed a better performance if they were looking to win the match, which came in the partnership between C Steyn and M Stannard, as the two batsmen led their side towards 61 runs.
Steyn was removed after scoring 23, while M Stannard went on to smack 31 runs, nonetheless, it was the 39-run knock by M Singonzo that took the team towards 158 runs, paving the way for this emphatic victory.
