Free State v Namibia – CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, 2012/13 – Match Update – Free State claim 43-run win
A fierce defence of their total saw Free State’s bowlers leading the team towards a 43-run win over Namibia during the ongoing CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, in their list A match played at the University of Orange Free State Ground in Bloemfontein on November 18.
Free State won the toss and chose to bat – however, the assaults of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-Khomari-c90391 (20) and Jandre van Wyk (16) only managed to post a combined total of 20 run on the board, after which both were eventually dislodged by Viret.
The next four batsmen – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Patrick-Botha-c80848 (4) were all lacklustre, and made their way back to the pavilion early, without putting up too much of a fight. By the 19th over, Free State were at 68 for 6.
Coming in at number 7, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malusi-Paul-Siboto-c74080 (38) joined Terblanche for a 72-run stand for the 8th wicket.
Their combined efforts got Free State up to 156, after which some minor contributions from Corné Dry (5) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gino-Vries-c1488 (10*) got the team up to 188 before they were all out in the 47th over.
Despite the mediocre total, Free State’s bowlers launched an effective defence, with Corné Dry (8-0-20-3) leading the attack, while Siboto (6-0-17-2) and Vries (8-0-50-2) chipped in with supporting performances, to keep Namibia in line.
Only four of Namibia’s batsmen were able to contribute double-digit scores, with Louis van der Westhuizen top-scoring with 40, while Shalako Groenewald (22*), wicketkeeper skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Raymond-van-Schoor-c84385 (17), and Klazinga (17) all contributed small scores.
