I signed up with Voipbusters: http://www.voipbuster.com/en/index.html

They want me to enter a telephone number, I don't have a number. What should I do? Is this a common thing with VOIP service? Should I make one up?

  1. The reason VoIPBuster wants you to enter your phone number to make a call (from their web page) is because they are using "Call Back" as the means of connecting you to the destination you are calling.

With CallBack features, you don't talk directly over your PC or the Internet.  They call your entered phone number so they can call you back at you number and then connect you to the party you want to call.

If you can't use the "call-back" feature, then just DownLoad their VoiP Buster softphone onto your PC and dial directly from the softphone and talk using your PC and a headset with microphone.

  2. get voipstunt! much easier! you can call from ur   pc withou a homephone. it has a feature that when u run out of credit it automatically tops it up. if you want phone to phone, it does that as well!
