1: what is the right amount of rosin to put on your bow?

2: Any Free sheet music sites besides 8 notes.

3: song suggestions?

4: last but not least, i have a bad habit of gritting my teeth as i play...how do i break that habit before i break my teeth.??

You probably should go to a dentist and see if you might have TMJ.

  2. Q1. When putting rosin on your bow, it needs to have an equal amount everywhere, but not too much. If you are playing and little rosin clouds are coming up, you know that that is too much. In response to what the first answerer said, you should NEVER touch the bow hair, as the oils on your fingertips can permanently damage the hairs of the bow, so make sure you don't touch the bow's hairs. And if a cloud comes up, it's too much. When I rosin my bow, I normally start at the frog, then pull the bow down (not the rosin up) to the tip, then rub it a few times in between the tip and a third of the way down. Then I do the same thing to the middle of the bow, and the last thrid near the frog. Then I pull the bow down again untill the rosin reaches the tip again, and then I'm done. If that isn't quite enough, then I do it again.

That's what I do; you don't have to do that, but that is my advice.

Q2. I sorry but I don't know any free sheet music sites.

Q3. If you want song suggestions, then you need to tell us how hard music you are playing, your level of playing. Otherwise, we might suggest music too easy, or too hard.

Q4. What you need to do is relax. If you aren't relaxed, then your posture will not be good, and you won't play well. It's the same for any and all instruments. Also, you need to be enjoying your music. If it's too hard, then you won't enjoy it, and you will grit your teeth with the dtrain of the music. And if you don't know the music well enough, then that can also cause that.

I hope your violin playing goes well, and I hoped what said helped.

    Maestro.

  3. do you own a KUN? cuz if you don't that might be why you are gritting your teeth. otherwise, i make lots of funny faces when i play violin, but when i focus too much on breaking that, i lose my performance...

actually, go on YouTube and watch this one guy, Maxim Vengerov...he makes the silliest faces when he plays hungarian dance lol :)

i usually rosin my bow until when i flick the hairs i can see an amoutn of dust poof off (not very specific i know...)

song suggestions...it depends what level u are at, but i just performed Mozart's concerto #3, 1st movement (i am 15 yrs old) and it is very fun.

    hope this helps!
