Free Zone to conquer the Eddie And Violet Smith Conditions Stakes
The three-year-old bay gelding, Free Zone, gets the nod for the Class 3 Eddie And Violet Smith Conditions Stakes. He will compete against five other three-year-old and above contenders in order to bag the £6,412 prize money. The 5 to 2 entry is backed by
the decent effort that he put forth the last time that he raced.
The race will be held over five furlongs on Tuesday, 25th September at Beverley race course. The Bryan Smart trained started off his 2012 campaign in April, and ever since then has raced eight times. Two outings since the commencement of the season
has given the gelding two wins, one of them was at Beverley race course.
Kyllachy’s three-year-old bay gelding captured the Thirsk Racecourse Conference & Wedding Centre Handicap on 21st April, 2012 at Thirsk over five furlongs. Guided by jockey, Tom Eaves, Free Zone took a prominent spot right at the beginning of
the race.
The next approaching furlong found him leading, but just as he switched towards the rail, the bay gelding was over ridden for a furlong out. Keeping up the courage and strength, he landed the race by the margin of 2 ½ lengths.
Settling as the runner-up was, I’ll Be Good, while the favourite entry of the race, Waseem Faris, filled in the third spot behind the winner.
Ending at the third position in the next try had the R. G. Levin bred bouncing back into form in the third outing of the new season.
Free Zone claimed the £5,291.25 prize money in the Brantingham Conditions Stakes on 2nd June, 2012 at Beverley over five furlongs. Taking off from the third gate, he raced on the same lines as in the previous success.
He got challenged in the between the track distance by getting ridden over however, the concluding 2 ¼ lengths went in his favour due to the strong stance that the mount of jockey, Tom Eaves, did not compromise on.
It has been nearly three months since the three-year-old won a race. He should make the most out of the chance today due to the same rider and the similar stall number that Free Zone has drawn today.
