Free agent Michael Bourn might get a new deal – MLB Update
Free agent Michael Bourn might get a deal with the New York Mets. These reports have already surprised many as Mets earlier showed no interest signing Bourn but now their management has shifted attention as they wants to sign former Atlanta Braves centre
fielder with a lucrative deal.
The Mets general manager Sandy Alderson is taking much interest to sign Bourn. Though he did not make any public comments about signing Bourn but still many insiders have this news as Mets GM personally likes Bourn’s talent and wants him to play for the
New York side.
Bourn is a talented player and knows his game well. He did well in the last season and achieved good numbers of .274 hitting average along with nine homers, 57 RBIs and .348 OBP. Overall he also possesses good career record of .272 hitting average along
with 22 home runs, 215 RBIs and .339 OBP.
Despite the fact that it is not confirmed yet as Bourn will be playing in the Mets next season but this is quite certain that if he does come in South New York baseball franchise, that will be a great sign.
Not only it will benefit the Mets to grow in the coming years but it will also help the six-year Major League veteran to explore his game.
Meanwhile, Mets Alderson remains optimistic about his team’s winning chances in the next big event. He recently spoke to a renowned sports website and told them about the good things which has happened in the Mets’ franchise and how it will be giving them
great support in the next Major League Baseball season.
During his interview, he also talked about the potential of free agent market and how his top management will be deciding regarding signing some good players.
"The free-agent market for outfielders has shrunk," Alderson said, noting that he does not plan to acquire any additional Major League infielders or catchers. "We've watched that happen. We think that the free-agent market for outfielders was almost as overpriced
as the market for starting pitching. But be that as it may, we're still looking.
"We may go into the season with what we have; we may add someone. But the inventory of free-agent outfielders is low."
Experts believe that Alderson is a good team leader and if he kept this strategy of signing good new players, the Mets will certainly get consistent results next season.
