Free agent Prince Fielder’s next destination..? - MLB Special
Albert Pujols’ block-buster $254 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels franchise, people and more likely the fans of talented former Milwaukee Brewers’ ace hitter Prince Fielder, are getting anxious to see their superstar once again with a top class Major
League team.
But as the 2012 MLB season is coming closer, Prince Fielder’s next destination is becoming quite vague. Even having a top agent like Scott Boras, Fielder is yet to find a potential franchise for him. Though, both, Fielder and Boras have met almost all the
MLB teams for a possible deal but still no positive outcome has come.
Sources claim, that the New York Yankees including the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Texas Rangers, New York Mets, Washington Nationals, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Indians, Arizona
Diamondbacks, San Francisco Giants, Detroit Tigers Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays, Atlanta Braves  Florida Marlins, Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Houston
Astros and Cincinnati Reds have met with Fielder and his agent but have been unable to finalise a contract as yet.
Experts somehow agreed on a single point that Fielder’s agent Scott Boras demands a long term lengthy contract for his client and currently no team in the League is in position to give a lengthy contract.
According to these experts, either, MLB teams cannot afford Fielder at the moment or they cannot surpass the 2012 salary cap that is set by the MLB authorities to stop the franchises on over spending.
Fielder, who is considered one of the most feared hitters in the current Major League era, has almost 10 years still left in him to play at his best in the biggest baseball League in the world.
However, Boras, who is also a very big fan of Prince Fielder’s talent and his many years dominance on the baseball field has recently spoke in the media and told the reporters about his great calibre as a Major League prodigy.
Scott Boras said,
“Put Prince Fielder on any team that draws 2 million fans and see what happens, Prince Fielder has proven in Milwaukee that you can add another million fans to the ledger [when he plays there], which means he pays for himself. You make so many other players
better when you have a young slugger that is there, setting an example that had not been there before. You don’t find guys at 27 that have done what Edwin Jackson has done, and this guy is still improving. Talent has no timeline, because teams are built with
talent, not cement.”
No one argued on the above mentioned value of Prince Fielder as without a doubt, he possesses some of the top-notch skills of baseball and in next few years, he certainly will break MLB’s top records made by previous great talents.
However, first he has to find a good team within the given time of one month for the next season as without playing a whole season will damage his ever-growing hitting record. For instance, he can also go for a shorter contract to carry forward his great
game to the next level.
