Free agent QB Peyton Manning heads to Tennessee after meeting Miami Dolphins officials-NFL News
Indianapolis Colts’ former quarterback, Peyton Manning, is reported to have met with Miami Dolphins’ officials on his way back from the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals, and plans on heading to the Tennessee Titans next to discuss the team’s interest
around the possibility of signing him.
A couple of media outlets have quoted anonymous sources claiming that the meeting, which took place in Indianapolis, was good and almost all aspects of the game were on the discussion table. The player has already discussed almost all those issues with Broncos
and Cardinals.
Assistant coach, Mike Sherman, who while being a part of the Texas A&M had hired Peyton Manning out of the Newman High in New Orleans, was also present in the meeting.
So far, nothing has come out of the meeting that could determine Manning’s chances of joining Dolphins, but the team is as much hopeful as ever before.
Following his meeting with Broncos and Cardinals, Manning was reported to have shortened his trip without meeting Dolphins.
Now that the meeting has taken place, the player is likely heading to Tennessee to meet Titans’ coach, Mike Munchak, to fulfil wishes of the owner, Bud Adams, who is very keen on signing the quarterback.
Adams had told a local newspaper a couple of days ago that he would like to bring the player to Tennessee at all costs, and said since the player had played college league in the city, his second coming could be more fit for the team and local fans.
He said:
"I want Manning. I'd love to see him in Titan blue after watching him so many years with the Colts. I want him. I am ready to do what it takes to get him aboard, and I think he'd be the guy to get us into the playoffs."
The owner is expected to be a part of the contingent meeting the player, and will certainly try his best to convince Manning to join Titans. The meeting, according to some reports, is likely to take place on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Since nothing much has been said by the player about all the meetings, it is difficult to ascertain his next destination at this point of time.
More than a dozen teams are interested in pursuing him and many of them are likely to expedite their efforts once the player officially becomes available on the free agency.
He is due to hit the free agency market at 4.00 pm ET on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, and the situation around his future signing is expected to become clearer then.
Manning has recently topped headlines of almost all media outlets and the debate around his next team is ever increasing.
He has become the most talked-about player since being released by the Indianapolis Colts, where he spent 14 years of the professional career.
