Free agent RB Kevin Faulk waiting for call from New England Patriots - NFL News
Running back, Kevin Faulk gave 14-years of his best to the New England Patriots and at 35-years of age the veteran player is not ready to hang up his boots just yet.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday the running back said that he is currently training and ready to come back onto the field.
"I am training to come back to play. But it's not up to me. It's up to the team and everything, but I am planning on coming back to play, so we'll see what happens."
Faulk is a rare one-team player and after giving so much to the Patriots is now just waiting in hope that the franchise call him up and ask him for one last run out on the field.
"I'm hoping, I'm just praying. A phone call will come, but it's not up to me to contact them."
The running back was saddened after being left out of the team for the Patriots Super Bowl match against the New York Giants and had contemplated retirement after being snubbed.
However, he said that after thinking long about it he now knows what he wants to do and that is to don the Patriots jersey once again.
Faulk added that he will only sign up for the Patriots and if another franchise came calling he would just say no.
"That is not going anywhere. If it doesn't come, it doesn't come. I'm content with it. If a phone call doesn't come from the New England Patriots, are you ready for that? Yes, I am."
The veteran running back played only a bit part role last season after recovering from a long injury layoff and played in just seven games for the franchise.
New England had a wonderful season as they ended the regular season with a 13-3 record to secure first seed in the American Football Conference (AFC) playoffs and home field advantage.
The Patriots defeated Denver Broncos in the divisional rounds of the playoffs and just about managed to defeat the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game.
They faced their Super Bowl nemesis New York Giants in the showpiece event and once again fell short of victory.
