Free agent Zack Greinke could get record payday, say sources
Reports are coming in the media that free agent Zack Greinke is close to signing a big deal with a leading Major League Baseball franchise.
Close sources also suggest that Greinke’s late potential signing could top some of the big contracts in the league.
Seeing his talent and his almost eight years’ experience, some of the leading teams have showed great interest to sign him with a long term contract.
Sources are speculating in the media that Greinke will be getting a huge deal soon. With up-to $25 million per year and over six years commitment, Greinke is likely to get same sort of deal.
According to some experts, Greinke is currently considered one of the most productive players in the league.
Many teams want his presence in their roster including his former franchise Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers.
However, no team has initiated any talks with him or his agent. Yet, Rangers' CEO Nolan Ryan, who gave a detailed interview early in this month, is quite sure over his team’s needs.
During his detailed interview, he spoke about some different facts of Greinke and his skills that make him true prodigy in the league.
“I think because of the need of pitching, there’s going to be an awful lot of interest, When I look at him, I think he has a real feel for pitching. He’s a command guy. He has a really good changeup," Ryan said.
He added, “When I look at him, I don’t get concerns about breaking down because he has a good delivery and it’s effortless and he has a feel for pitching, You’d probably feel stronger about him as far as a longevity candidate than maybe some of the power guys. That’s my initial thoughts when I watch him."
Playing with the Los Angeles Angels in the past season, Greinke proved his valour and finished the season on a high note achieving 3.48 ERA along with 15-5 win-loss, 200 strike-outs and 1.20 WHIP.
On the other hand, his career ERA of 3.77 along with 91-78 win-loss, 1332 strike-outs and 1.25 WHIP is also a great record for an eight-year Major League veteran.
