Free agent wide receiver Chad Johnson hopeful to get another chance to play in the league – NFL News
Free agent and former Miami Dolphins, Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Johnson expressed his interest in returning to the National Football league (NFL) during an interview on Wednesday, December 05, 2012.
Johnson admitted that there is a chance that he might have to hang his boots if no league team comes knocking at his door. However, the veteran wide receiver is hopeful of getting a second chance.
The wide receiver acknowledged that he was to blame mainly for all the problems he had in and out of the field. During the interview with ESPN, Johnson said:
"I have to humble myself. I'm not complaining. I'm not fussing about being cut. I made the bed, I'm going to lay in it. I'm going to play again. I will think and I will hope so. If I don't, I am fine with it. I don't have a choice. What am I going to do,
fuss, knock down the doors, beg?”
The 11-season veteran faced discipline issues due to which Dolphins waived him during the offseason. The release was followed by his divorce from his wife Evelyn Lozada after the player was arrested for charges related to domestic violence.
The six-time Pro Bowler exclaimed that he is still working out and practising on the local fields to stay league-fit. He made it clear that he is not in a position to have any demands and just simply wants to be a part of a team.
However, Johnson did express his regrets of joining Patriots after having successful seven seasons with Bengals during which he got more than 1,000 receiving yards every season. Johnson went on and said:
"It worked for 10 years and I get to New England, it didn't work. Maybe it was the system. I don't know why. What makes it even worse is it didn't work with one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game."
Johnson, widely known as Chad Ochocinco, was drafted by Bengals in the second round (36th overall pick) in the 2001 draft. The veteran is a three-time All-Pro and holds the Bengals’ franchise record for most receiving yards covered in a season
with 1,440 yards.
