Question:

Free camping below high-water line?

When we were up in Alaska we would camp on riverbeds below the normal high water mark. We mostly did this when we were road-tripping. I was wondering if anybody knows of the laws concerning this practice in Oregon. I have found some articles but none of them have really been clear and some of them have been contradicting. I'm road tripping up the Oregon coast next week in our VW bus and am hoping to take advantage of any free overnight campsites I can since we're putting so much money in to gas this year!

  1. its perfectly legal in any state to camp/etc. below the high tide line..

the only thing is that this may be hard to get to the place you want to get without stepping over the high tide mark
