  1. I have been in the banking industry for years. If you overdraft your account the bank is technically lending you money. Considering you are the type of person to overdraft an account they are not likely to trust you will pay them back. This is a SERVICE that the bank is providing so that you can pay your bills. I'm sure you'd rather pay the 30 odd bucks than have your rent check bounce. For every service there is a fee.. if banks didn't charge this people would just continue to overdraft their account and never pay the bank back. It is ridiculous to be upset at this. Learn to use a check register and become a responsible adult. there is no reason to overdraw your account and it is irritating to continously hear from customers that they should not be responsible for these fees. 2. u can try washington mutual

  3. well yes there are a lot of free checking accounts but no bank is going to let you borrow money from your checking account (over drafting) with out getting some kind of fee!!! how do you pay your bills not -- by money order -- if so it is costing you a lot more than a checking account!!!

  4. Over 65 at my bank (credit union) there is no charge for checks, overdrafts, no monthly fee or minimum balance for checking accounts, etc.  (Love my Credit Union !)
