Free chlorine at a sufficient level?

how can get my free chlorine at a sufficient level it is at 10ppm now. all the other readings are perfect ,the water is a bit cloudy though.we were taking care of a algae problem .I've been useing a water clarifier as well every night and vaccuming bottom every morning

  1. Safe chlorine levels are 1-3ppm with 5max.  How fast the chlorine dissipates depends on the amount of cyanuric acid is in the water and how much your pool is in the sun since UV rays are what depletes chlorine.  If you are in a rush you can deplete your chlorine with Sodium Thiosulfate.  I would wait and continue to test.

    Take a sample of water to your pool supply and ask to test for cyanuric acid levels.  Level should be 100ppm or less but that is a commercial pool level.  Some people believe high CYA levels tie up free chlorine but this is a subject of great debate.  High levels do protect the chlorine in the pool and you could be experiencing this now.
