hi all

I asked a question earlier about free drinks at a casino. Many people said I should tip them and that it does'nt work out any good value for just soft drinks... the problem is this particular casino only offers free soft drinks no alcohol or even hot drinks!

when I was last at the casino I did see these waitresses but money never exchanged hands... could this mean thta they are not allowed to accept tips ?

if they are and considering it's just a soft drink should I tip just £0.50 £1.00 or perhaps more ?

any advice ?

  1. You never mentioned before that this was a British casino.

That makes a big difference, since the workers in British casinos are not paid poverty wages as they are in the US.  It would still be appropriate to tip, but a 50p tip is reasonable or maybe £1 the first time, and nothing for the second drink.

If you don't tip, don't expect to get a fast return service.

If you are really that worried about the whole tipping thing, you could probably just walk over to the drink station and have them grab you a drink and pay no tip.

Honestly though, if you are this concerned about 50p vs. £1 and getting free soft drinks, I'm not sure you really need to be visiting a casino in the first place!

Odds are you're going to lose money anyway.  So what's a couple of pounds for some 'free' drinks?

  2. If you didn't see any money exchange hands it means the customers are stiffs. They will accept tips.

  3. They work for tips, so you've got to tip them.  GBP 1 is fine.
