I'm struggling to attend college right now. I work over 40 hours a week and it just isn't cutting it. If I am an Iowa resident, but live in Missouri, who do I talk to about seeing if I qualify for free healthcare and food stamps, I do know that I qualifiy for hud housing but the waiting list was too long. I'm a single 21 year old female with no dependents.

  1. If you live in Missouri, the government will consider you a MO resident and will expect you to get your driver's license, etc. up to date.

This website has toll free numbers you can call to find the exact office you'll need to go to, to apply for benefits. http://www.dss.mo.gov/

It should also have some info on Medic aid and food stamp eligibility requirements. The government always encourages you to apply, even if you think you might not be eligible. The caseworkers may have info about other programs as well.

  2. You probably don't quality for food stamps because of the amount you make from your job. The maximum income for a household of one is $1107 gross. I think you may qualify for share of cost medical until you turn 22 but I'm not positive,  You would have to apply in Missouri as for welfare rules you are a resident of where ever you live.
