Free pc game that lets you do anything?

Question

is there any free game on pc where its just like a sandbox mode and u can do anything you want like flying or driving anything anywhere?

my parents are deciding to be cool and not let me get gta,, so i was just wondering if there was a game thats free that lets you roam around or yeah,,

There are quite a few "big ol' world" rpg games that are free. One of the better ones I've seen is called Auteria, though like most of the free ones, there's not much to do cause it's not quite finished, so it's not well-populated, but there's still a full range of quests and you can roam around and fight and whatever you want.

Better than a sandbox-type game, though, how about a game where you can make your own levels? Not just by using a mod. Sauerbraten is a great free shooter that has an "edit mode" where instantly you become like a god, float around anywhere in the level and redesign anything, whether the terrain, textures, buildings, monsters, weapons, powerups, switches, bases, or better yet build your own single-player level from scratch. The amazing thing is how easy it is to build things with its bending-cube system.

If you go online it is no fair going into edit mode and erasing the ground under your opponent. Don't do it they'll get mad.
