  1. Gimp is awesome and there are plenty of tutorials online, both video based and text based.  There are also several books published on this free software.  Do some online research and you'll find that most people agree that the gimp can do 95% of what photoshop can do.  Oh and did I mention it's free.

  2. well gimp is free. but i've found that the best way is photoshop. the others don't come out nice (:

photoshop costs alot to buy, but it's worth it.

i'd recommend adobe photoshop cs2 or higher.

you could download a free trial off it's site

    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/...

here's the adobe cs3 extended version. download a free trial

or you could just search for it on the internet and loot it off for free without paying [it's illegal though] but many people got away with it.

  3. Picasa 2

  4. http://photofiltre.en.softonic.com/

it's called photofiltre and it what i use I'm telling you its awesome

    lol

here is an example from one of the photos i edited

  5. I have one called Gimp2 that I downloaded for free on the net.  It works really well and you can do all kinds of things with it.  It's better than the program that came with my camera.

  6. As some said before me said gimp is good

you can't make pictures look profesional by editing it helps to some degree but it's more about haw you take the photo focus lighting angle etc

you can type it in a search engine you get quite a few

  7. yeah, Gimp (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is great. It's an open-source (meaning: free) software that emulates Photoshop.

Just type it into a search engine and it should be one of the first few to pop up. Typically, it's more complicated to download onto a Mac than a PC, but it can be done.

  8. Seriously If you're really into that kind of thing you won't mind forking out... I bought my software for £80 and it is well worth it! I use Paint Shop Pro Photo X2... you can get a copy on ebay for less than £20... But before you buy you can get a 30day free trial from www.corel.com they usually bang on an extra 15 days free once it runs out too! So that might just last you out until you get your new laptop. Give it a wirl and if you need any help let me know... I know a good site for downloading brushes and things. And I can help you upload them  and set it all up if you need me to. emily.lucinda@hotmail.co.uk

  9. these are some of the ones you should download, if you are only going to download one i suggest picasa 2 but they are all really good softwares & i have added the link from where you can download them.

picasa 2 from google (i use this its good!)

    http://picasa.google.com/

photoscape (i found it hard to use but its really good)

    http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index....

gimp (loads of other people in y!a use it,)

    http://www.gimp.org/

if you have any spare cash or for a birthday or christmas or something you could get a professional editing software like jasc paint shop pro or corel or adobe photoshop,

or you can take a free trial its about 30 days or 60 and when that finishes use a different free trial - try adobe photoshop, corel, or jasc or even arcsoft photo impression. basically use up all the free trails and if you have any money buy the one you liked best.

also i have loads of editing software already on my computer some came with my scanner and my phone and i got a really good one from my camera so you could check out your default ones.

can't wait to see your photos, i will keep an eye out for more of your questions in the photography section ;]

but remember its not all about the editing its about your camera too and the lens.

  10. Just go to lunapic.com its free and you don't have to download anything.  You just upload your pics from your computer.

You can also go to kodak.com/downloads and they have software that you can use to edit your pics.
