Free region-free/region 0 DVD burners?

Question

I've been googling for region-free/region 0 DVD burners and I haven't found any good ones. Does anyone have any suggestions for FREE burners, that don't leave watermarks and can burn AVI files? I'm in the US and I'm sending a DVD to Japan. I have a burner but I'm not sure if it burns only region 1, and I don't want to risk it. :I

burners don't burn with any region codes.... but are set to only READ your specific region code.  It can be changed a few times before it becomes locked though.

I don't know freeware to convert avi,mpg to dvd, my friends recommend this dvd burning software to me, it's not free, but it works pretty well, I think it well worth the money, If you need more info, here you can free download it to have a try
