Free safety football question

ok well im going to be a junior in high school playing for my Varsity team. my defensive back coach is a complete ******** ********. i want to play Free Safety but do not no anything about it..ive asked him for help and all he tells me is to "watch the starters"...i just need to know everythjing about free safety..like which reciever he covers and why do they line up on diffrent sides.and if you have other suggestions on what i can do to get my coach to help me like a good coach should thanks!

If you run a cover 2, you have the deep half of the field. If you run a cover 3, you have deep thirds in the middle. If you run a man defense, you have the deepest receiver on your side of the field. The only time you wouldn't do any of these things is when

1. It is a run play

2. You are Blitzing

3. Their is some coverage stunt where certain guys switch coverages to confuse the QB

I also agree with the guy somewhere above me. You should ask the starters for help understanding what you have to do.

Your coach is right watch the starters and then when they come out ask them for help. or just pay attention when your watching the preseason games.
