Free satellites TV?

Question

I heard if you have a personal satellite dish, you can get free satellite tv on your television by pointing to a satellite, like there is free tv with antenias, there is free satellite tv with satellite dishes, is this true?

Sound like something illegal to me, if we could all get it for free, why would anyone pay for it?

And who would pay to put a sattelite up there without making a profit...

If you do find that this is true i am so jumping on that bandwagon..

Thank Greg, but your reference info doesnt say anything about getting it, just that it exists and you can get it with large dishes and in other countries..

I think I am gonna start a company that sells whatever we need to do this, anyone have the info on How to get this working from a US consumer point of view?

Ok, i dug deeper and you need a slew of technical stuff, 10 ft diameter dishes and such...  great in theory, but i'm better of paying my 39.99 a month.

if i can use the dish i have and get the same channels i have now (including local) then i'll think about it.  1500.00 -2000.00 for a system and a 10 foot dish in my backyard is too big a price for me..

Yes , this is  true and 100% legal.

Not really that expensive either , you can get started for about $200 if you're frugal and know where to buy the Dish , receiver , and Lnb .

Almost like getting your free local stations with an antenna , only you point at satellites in the sky , I have a 90cm  motorized dish that can point to around 20 satellites.

One satellite alone has over 100 free channels and then there are some satellites where you may only view 1 or 2 channels.

You're not getting free HBO or MTV , basically you'll be getting alot of  ethnic foreign language channels , Sports , Religious channels , regional networks , news feeds.

Well worth it , I've installed my own dish January 2006 and ever since have been enjoying all kinds of neat TV stations and Radio stations from all over the world that are being transmitted toward the U.S..

What you'll need is a clear unobstructed view of the southern sky if you live in the U.S. , this will let you point your dish at more satellites.
