You need to be waaaaaaay more specific if you want any help. There are free sites such as:

http://www.familysearch.org/

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

and many more, but if you're really serious about genealogy you'll have to get your wallet out at some point.

The best and most important free genealogical resource is always going to be your family, particularly the elders.
