Going on a Cruise to Cozumel, Belize and Key west. Anybody know of fun Free things to do while in those places? Are there any mayan temples we can go to w/o having to pay 50+ per person?

  1. Mayan temples are not near the cruise ports, so visiting them will involve a fairly long bus trip.  You'd definitely want to do this with the cruise line, so that if there are any delays, the ship will wait for you.

The port at Belize is not a very attractive or safe area to be roaming around in.  There are shops within the gated area where the tenders come in, but you don't want to go outside of that area without a guide.  There are lots of fun things to do in Belize, but none of them are free.  If you snorkel, the cruise line's excursion allows you to be picked up at the ship and taken to Goff's Caye [really neat!].  A very popular excursion here is the cave-tubing trip, which can be done through the ship or on your own.  You can arrange other excursions on your own [see below].  This is a tender port and the trip into shore takes about 30 minutes each way.

Cozumel is a very easy port to do on your own.  You can either go downtown to shop or grab a cab and head south to the beaches.  Chankanaab Park is beautiful [see their website] and many people like {aradise Beach [website];  I liked Chank better.  Nachi Cocom is another popular beach there.

Key West is fun to just wander around in.  Get a map and see where the things that interest you are located.  You don't need a ship's tour here, unless there's something very special offered.

Go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards", then go to "Ports of Call" for lots of advice from experienced cruisers.

    Have a great cruise!
