Free time at Air Force Tech School?

I wanted to know if I would be able to study extra things to prepare for college next fall.

Youre lucky. i wanted that job. but i didnt pass my first pt test so i was thrown into fit flight and lost my researved job. so now im APS.

You will be having a lot of work to do while in tech school. and you will still be getting up really early to do pt. i used to fall asleep in class and have to make up for it. You are going to be exhausted. once boot camp is over and you are alowed to eat real food and stay up as late as you want, and maybe even drink now, you will be pushing your schedule to the max. if i were you i wouldnt try to study for anything else. you will have ample time to do that when you get to your first base. expecially if you are single.

How are you in tech school, and going to college next fall? are you attending school while in the military? you trying to become an officer?

if you are, thats the best decision you could make. but i am still saying to wait until you get to your first base and complete your CDCs (your training booklets and testing that you get when you begin a new job)

CDCs are stressfull, and are long and annoying depending on your job. Mine came in 5 seperate books, 5 tests, and each book was about an inch thick. invest in the study CD ROMs. they consist of flash quizzes, and is much easier than studying over and over.

Anyway, after you complete that, and before your first deployment, you will have time to study your butt off.

That depends.

If the tech school you're attending is one of the tougher ones (languages, intel, medical, and Air Traffic Control are notorious for being particularly tough), a lot of your free time will be taken up with studying.  However, during the first phase of tech school, you won't be allowed to leave base, so you will have a lot of free time (particularly on weekends) with limited options.
