Free-to-play Tekken Revolution unveiled for the PlayStation 3 – Gaming news
Namco Bandai Games is all set to treat the PlayStation 3 owners with the first-ever free-to-play title in the Tekken franchise, Tekken Revolution.
The game is scheduled to become available to the hungry fans of the popular fighting game franchise on the PlayStation Network (PSN) tomorrow, i.e. June 11, 2013.
According to reports, the game will launch with a fighter roster comprising of eight characters. These include Paul, King, Marshall Law, Asuka, Steve, Lars, Alisa and Lili.
While the fans of Jin, Nina, Hwoarang and Heihachi may be feeling a bit disappointed, one needs to remember that the game is based on a free-to-play model. This could only mean that new characters will be added to the roster with the passage of time, though
you will be probably have to pay a small fee to download them to your system.
Gamers will find the general gameplay of Tekken Revolution to be quite familiar to the previous instalments in the franchise, with the option to take on the AI in the “Arcade Mode” and fight against human players from across the globe in both ranked and
non-ranked matches via the “Online Mode.”
However, Namco Bandai Games have added a bit of a twist to the upcoming Tekken game, which is going to set it apart from its predecessors.
For the first time ever, players will be able to upgrade the individual characters.
Each character will have three upgradable attributes, namely Strength, Endurance and Vigor. Players will be able to improve the aforementioned attributes by spending skill points.
“Develop a defensive tank character with high HP to withstand knockout blows while offense focused players can create a damage-inflicting character with low health but high critical hit rates to devastate opponents with a flurry of attacks,” reads the official
blurb.
It is not yet disclosed how these skill points will be earned and how the micro-transactions have been integrated into the game.
The publisher has not revealed details regarding the effect and impact of micro-transactions on the overall experience either.
Aside from the upgradable attributes, Tekken Revolution will also feature Critical Arts and Special Arts moves.
