  2. Yes.  Start with AVG Free 8.0 from:

    http://free.avg.com/ww.download?prd=afe

Save it, Install it, Use it.  You won't be sorry.

It also would be a good idea to get

    (1) SUPERAntispyware from here:

    http://www.superantispyware.com/

    (2) SpywareBlaster from here:

    http://www.download.com/SpywareBlaster/3...

    (3) Spybot Search & Destroy from here:

    (4) Ad-Aware from here:

  3. If you don't want to pay be very careful go with trusted names like AVG and Sophos.

If it comes up in a pop up check the name in two or more search engines.

If you install it and it goes wrong system restore will take the software off.

Remember on "FREE" stuff read the Terms and Conditions, if you don't they could say you are installing a thousand viruses (avoids legal action)

Your PC may virus software on it anyway.

Or go to the registry and delete them from there.

  4. Sometimes people think they have virus, when its nothing more than popups or spyware!! You should always have security in place when surfing the internet!!

  5. YES, download AVG and you will be safe!

  6. Update your anti-virus, remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC

    Download SuperAntiSpyware

Restart your PC in safe mode, and run a full scan with both.

While in safe mode, you may also want to have a look at your start up items by using msconfig.

  7. I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just upgraded to AVG free 8.0 and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

  8. Alright I know just the thing!

This will be your home computer REGIMENT! With these programs you'll never have to take it in... ever again.

    1. To protect yourself from viruses, download Avast! Antivirus.

    2. To protect yourself from adware download Ad-Aware.

    3. To protect yourself from spyware download Spybot Search and Destroy

I assure you that none of these programs contain malware... and you will be completely satisfied from each of them! Btw...

THEY DON'T SLOW DOWN YOUR COMPUTER!

    Hoped that helped =D

    BY THE WAY.. .

I've used Spyware Blaster and it is a terribly scripted program... after scanning with it, it told my computer was clear and when I scanned with Spybot I had a Smitfraud infection...

    >.<

    One more thing...

    AVAST VS. AVG

    AVAST> AVG

    Surf safely.
