Freecycle email group?

Question

Hey, I joined Freecycle with a Hotmail account and they accepted me to join a few groups. But when I went to a groups page, I have to sign in with my Yahoo account?

What is the point of signing up with a hotmail account if they actual webpage for groups needs a Yahoo account?

And can I use my hotmail account on the page somehow?

using what ever e-mail to send to the group is different than going to the group site.

if you plan to post from the group site, you'll need a Yahoo ID/ Account and sign into to do so.

if you post from Hotmail, it'll get to the group regardless

How could I join a group without getting access to its web features? How do I prevent this from occurring in the future?

You can be an email only member of the group and then you would not need a Yahoo account.  That would mean you would just send and receive messages using your email account (hotmail in your case).  However, if you want to use the group website, you need a Yahoo ID and you need to sign in with it.  So, if you are wanting to use any of the features on the website (photos, files, or read messages there), you do need the Yahoo ID.
