Freedom Chief persuaded trainer D Childs after his Primus Telecom Derby's triumph that he is a victorious hound
Under trainer D Childs’s training, the Primus Telecom Derby Trial Stakes was won by none other then the black hound, Freedom Chief.
The champ has also been among the finalists of the Ladbrokes.com Puppy Derby, held earlier in the year 2011 at Henlow racetrack.
Covering the 460 meters distance with an amazing pace, the lucky hound is all set for the Primus Telecom Derby, starting from 13th October, 2011.
The 11/10 favourite, Freedom Chief, started his chase from trap 3 with a quick pace, wearing white and black shirt.
He railed through the track really well, but he led the race in the last 1 length and with a fantastic pace, the hound won the race.
Covering the distance in 27.44 seconds for trainer D Childs, Freedom Chief left his contender, Farley Denny, behind by 4 ¾ lengths.
The blue hound, trained by C Weatherall, wearing a red shirt with black and white stripes, rushed out of trap 4 with a good pace, but as he found it easy to reach the wire, he slowed down during the last 2 lengths.
The three-year-old 7/4 favourite finished second by crossing the line in 27.82 seconds.
Following Farley Denny by a distance of 6 ½ lengths was Harrys Blonde.
The black and white dog managed to finish third for trainer H P J Kemp with his sluggish performance.
Although the trap 4 racer got crowded twice by 1 length and 3 lengths, his sluggish start also contributed to his below par performance.
He kept on running after being crowded, but the situation was no more in his control.
Reaching the wire in 28.33 seconds made D J Atkins’s Tacko reach the line 1 ¾ length after Farley Denny.
The black dog, wearing blue and white shirt, railed as trap 2 opened, but unfortunately, the 3/1 favourite got crowded by 1 and 3 lengths, finishing fourth.
His total time was calculated to be 28.47 seconds, giving a head to head competition to the 4/1 favourite, Hi Rumble.
The black dog, trained by D C Elliott, was just a shoulder away from Tacko. The three-year-old starting his run from trap 1 and went through the same situation as Tacko.
S Gaughan’s three-year-old hound, Kilara Mac, tragically finished sixth in the race.
The black and white dog started his chase with a tremendous speed and was leading for 1 whole length.
However, eventually the trap 5 runner got checked by 3 lengths and became the last one to reach the wire.
Primus Telecom Derby Trial Stakes confined with a prize money of £250, rewarded the winner with a purse of £150, while the rest of the position holders were given £20 each.
