Freedom Of The Seas???

Ok this is my first cruising. I;m going with relatives who have cruised before. This is our first time on a Royal Owned Ship. I would like to know

(ONLY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN ON THE SHIP)

did the cruise by anty chance have any movement? Did it go on it's sides when waves hit it? My aunt's last cruise was the Carnival Sensation and she said it went from side to side. So does the Freedom one do this?

Thanks!

  1. I have been on the Freedom and it did rock a little but there was a hurricane passing about 500 miles from us. We didn't get any rain just some waves and a little rocking. You will probably have a differet experience than I did but don't worry you are going to love it. Also the ship is huge therefore some little regular waves won't do anything to the boat.

  2. I am going on Freedom of hte Seas on Sunday, and I turn 14 on Monday. I have been on 3 other cruises-Enchantment of the Seas to Canada/New England, Mariner of the Seas to the Eastern Caribbean, and the Maasdam to Canada/New England. Well, obviously, I havn't been on Freedom of the Seas yet, but on my past cruises, I didn't even feel the ship moving, except for  a couple of the nights it was a little rocky on some of them, but it was kinda fun. With the big ships these days, you hardly even feel them moving because they have stabilzers on the sides. Also, the crew does everything they can to ensure the passengers safety, so if there is a storm, they may switch up the route. For example, if there is a storm in the Eastern Caribbean, they may switch to the Western Caribbean, or vice versa. Most likely, you won't have any trouble though. Cruises are amazing. Plus, you will be on one of the biggest ships in the world. It will be fun.

  3. The Freedom is the largest cruise ship in the world.  It's 160,000 tons.  The Sensation that you mentioned is closer to 70,000 tons.

I have been on the Sensation 2x and yes, you can feel it.

I have been on 110,000 tons and you can feel it if it's rocky enough.

You probably won't feel a thing.

My clients who go - love the Freedom and book again, and again.  It' s going to be coming to Pt. Canaveral in May 2009 .... should be great.

If you are afraid of sea sickness, then get a patch from your Doctor. they work GREAT!!!

  4. I've never been on freedom of the seas but I've been on 3 royal  cruises. they are fun if you aren't too young... so it'll be fun. all cruise ships go side to side when the waves are bad or there's a storm but the captain tries to keep the ship away from those areas as best as he can. I've been on 10-15 cruises and will tell you that royal doesn't do that any more then another ship would. so it depends on if you get a storm.

I'd bring motion sickness medicine (just in case).
