Do u believe the media tells us everything or US media changes things around so we can believe what they want us o believe. I notice certain things with The media in this country when i watch the news about the israel and palestine conflict the media seems to support israel overall...is this a government conspiracy? Can media favor 1 over the other?

Even after 9/11 they showed EVERYTHING in NYC news..But after a few weeks u hardly heard about anything...They talked about it but mostly about those fake anthrax scared which is also another conspiracy..

what do u think?

**Nyorker all my life ...and i love this country**

  1. I think that the real question is, does media control society or does society control the media? I think the answer is both. Therefore, when one changes the other follows, until we see a drastic change in the interests of society and the information available.

  2. Yes it is really true.  It's specified in the US Constitution.  And I have to disagree with you about your observation on 9/11.  News coverage was relentless from every angle for the following year.  Gradually yes, it does lessen over time.  That's natural.  People's attention gets diverted to more current events that are affecting their lives at that moment.  That's not to say people forget about 9/11, or Hurricane Katrina or anything else, but other events need to be reported.  Think about all the things you DIDN'T hear about during those two events because the time covering those monopolized everything.

You can argue though that free press is limited in some ways.  Financially, some organizations don't have the resources to go out and dig deep enough to get a well-researched or well-written story.  People in some news organizations have a different perspective on issues than management does, so they are in a way censored.  News media often must follow rules that government lays down if they really desire that interview or want to be on scene at an event unfolding live.  There are things that can limit a free press, but it's just the nature of the beast I suppose.

  3. And what is your proof that the media "favours Israel" over the other side?

In fact, the media many times gets it wrong.
