The original purpose of the misnamed 'Fairness Doctrine' was to prevent the rise of another Hitler. In the 1930s, Hitler controlled the radio airwaves of n**i Germany and his monopoly of this new technology made it easier to recruit people. However, now there is no monopoly on any communication technology now, thanks to free market capitalism, and those who defend the first amendment.
