I've just had Freesat installed in one room - can I DIY a connection to another location easily?

  1. I'm trying to get my head around what you want to do; move your current set, or hook up a parallel TV.

Moving a set is straightforward, just buy a 15m extension co-ax and adaptor.

Hooking up a parallel is a bit more difficult. That is best achieved by using a long SCART cable, connected to the secondary SCART socket on your Freeview Box. With this you will NOT be able to switch the sets to separate channels without a specifically equipped Freeview Box, or using a Freeview enabled digital TV.

Hooking up a second Freeview box, or Freeview enabled TV can be achieved by paralleling the aerial Co-Ax. For that you will need a Tee Splitter and the previously mentioned 15m extension Co-Ax. Since Freeview boxes can be bought for under £20.00, this may be the best solution.

Before embarking on parallels, take a look at your current Digital Signal strength (normally a bar indicator, either on your TV menu, or on the front panel of the digibox). If you are receiving a full strength signal indication, then the extension can be the usual cheapo Co-Ax. If it is, say 50% signal strength, you will be better served with a bespoke Low Loss Co-Ax extension (which may cost a few squid more).

There are WiFi-type solutions but these are pretty ropey as a rule.

  2. u need to run a coaxil airiel cable out the back of your freesatt box to the other tv u want it on, then get a magic eye (argos or currys sell these) and connect that into the back of the 2nd tv and plug the new coaxil cable into the magic eye you can then change channels from the 2nd tv too
