if i watch freeview why do i have to buy tv licence it ment to be free

  4. It's only called 'Freeview' because you do not pay a subscription such as Sky/Virgin to view.

    But all TV's have to have a licence, it does not matter how you receive your tv but you pay to watch.

    The TV license is for your TV. This pays for no adverts so it's only the BBC channels that are affected by a TV license and you can just pick a few channels unfortunately.
