We have recently bought a Freeview box, we have a new Digital Roof top Aerial, we get all the channels, and we think it works fine, but there is a lot of "squaring" and picture freezing interference! is this normal for the Freeview Service?? As we have gone back to Analogue for the time being! if this is how the Freeview Service is going to be, then i see People demanding refunds for their TV Licence Fee, if they can't watch TV Properly! please let me know what you think!!

  1. You're going to have to live with the squares if you installed the antenna yourself...you may have to live with it, even if you had a professional do the installation....

Thirty years ago we were HAPPY with the advent of Cable coming our way, so we could get rid of the snowy picture and ghosting..... NOW we expect our OLD Aerial reception to not only be CHEAP....but also PERFECT....

It's not perfect, and unfortunately for you, not cheap either....

    You could have gone Satellite

You  could have gone with Cable

But you chose Freeview and all of it's Minor annoyances....

  2. It may get better once the Analog transmission has finished, I live abroad and when I first got my digibox it was the same but now there is no Analog at all the digital programs are all OK, I would suggest you wait until the Analog goes off completely before rushing out and paying a lot of cash for a Sky or Cable set up you may not need. Oh and as for refunds, legally if you get one channel and it is c**p you still receive TV so you have to pay, that is the downside.

  3. fit a "mast head " amplifier to your aerial.as pix-elation is often caused by a lack of signal.

  4. other electrical appliances can have an effect on freeview boxes, make sure its not to close to any?

and there is plenty of room around it so its not over heating.

  5. Its very windy where I am today, so I am assuming that its windy around you too. This caused interference just like it does with sattelite too.

also when I had one, it had to be sat on top of the tv for it to work properly for some reason!

hope this helps you out :-)
