Question:

Freeware Vista 64 Disk Partition & Backup Manager?

Just installed Vista 64 and can't find a freeware or shareware program that runs on Vista 64 that can resize partitions etc and do complete disk backups.

Paragon Partition Manager 9 does not support Vista 64 only Vista 32. Have done google searches and had a look on Download.com but cannot find anything to run on Vista 64. Can anyone suggest a solution?

  1. TeraByte's BootIt Next Generation works with 64 bit Vista

Also, I have a suspicion Acronis Disk Director 10 works with 64 bit Vista too

Two of the best disk utilities in their field. It's true as stated above that you can use Vista's own partitioning tools but they are limited; also, full disk image backup is only available in Vista Business and Ultimate editions.

Acronis True Image 11 is an excellent backup software; if you need free software, use Macrium Reflect Free which has a 64 bit version - you can also create a Linux-based recovery cd to boot and restore your pc in case of system failure

  2. You can partition your hard drive using vista so theres no need for any other program. Instructions are here:

same with backing up, Vista Ultimate can also backup your data, instructions are here:

I really cant see the point in buying seperate program to do things that vista can do by itself. Its the same with optimising Vista, you dont need programs to do it as its built in vista.

Granted, you need a decent firewall & antivirus but personally, everything else is a waste of time
