French Basketball Crisis?

Question

Out of all the international players in the NBA, the largest number are the French, there are 9 of them:

Tony Parker

Boris Diaw

Jokim Noah

Ronny Turiaf

Micheal Petrius

Yahuba Diawara

Johan Petro

Micheal Gelabale

Nicholas Batum

They are all black and are all pretty solid. But for this year's Olympics, France did not even make the 12-country team. And France has never done that well in FIBA tournaments. What da h**l es going on?

I don't see a true crisis in French basketball; what I can see is that the bonding is not as good as it is used to be. Also note that players like Nicholas Batum and Joakim Noah have yet to establish themselves as key members in national team.

A reason why France can be outplayed by a less-balanced team like Dirk-means-everything Germany is that the young players do not possess the sense of unity and total dedication.

Tony Parker is unarguably the go-to guy, but many fellow teammates are looking at him to take all crucial shots.

Boris Diaw is widely regarded as the No.2 in national team, but he shows indications of being mentally soft for taking up the game (he did made me wrong in 2005-2006 - but no repeat since then).

There is a correlation between Johan Petro's minute and performance: the more he plays, the more he frustrates. I don't know why it happens but he always looks less dependable even being deemed as the starting C.

Michael Pietrus is another major scoring option, but his persistent shot-selection problem has proved to be a downside risk for national team.

I think France needs to regroup the players and re-define the team's identity, or they will follow the footsteps of Serbia.

i think it tells you how good the rest of the teams are.  Plus i don't think all of the 9 you listed- all decided to play- and all in the same year- or they would probably do even better in the FIBA tournaments.
