French Caudal performs well in second round at Lacoste Ladies Open De France 2012
French Anne-Lise Caudal improved her position in the second round of Lacoste Ladies Open De France 2012 as she fired a 65 to tie for the third position along with two other contenders.
Caudal started her first round in impressive style and posted a 70, but the score was not big enough to keep her in contention. The second round saw the French star display a much better game because she made perfect strokes on most of the holes.
So far, Caudal is the most productive of all the local players in the roster, and she is starting to find a foothold in the LET (Ladies European Tour) tournament, having carded a good overall score.
Other French players who did well in the first two rounds include Valentine Derrey, who shot a stunning 66 on Friday to rise to a tie of sixth position on the leaderboard. Derrey was confident right from the start of the four-day tournament as she did not miss too many chances and managed to score a 70 on Thursday.
Caudal’s putting was amazing as her shots hit right where she wanted them to. Having parred the first hole, the French golfer sent the spectators chanting out loud after she drained two back-to-back birdies.
She, however, bogeyed the 6th, but was quick enough to launch another birdie in a bid to dilute pressure that came from stars like Stacey Keating and Diana Luna.
On the back nine, Caudal kept her momentum going and remained focused on her putting. Her scorecard saw a major boost after she sank two consecutive birdies on the 15th and 16th and another on the 18th hole.
Speaking to the media about her performance in the second round, Caudal said she is more than thrilled to have improved her position on the leaderboard, and looks forward to doing the same in the final rounds to put herself in contention.
She said that she did not lose nerves, which was the key to posting a good score.
“It was nice to finish strongly. On this golf course you have to play well at the beginning and in the middle it’s quite difficult, so you have to accept par and if you make birdie it’s a bonus. You have to finish strong as well because you have a lot of birdie holes and that’s what I did today so I’m happy,” Caudal said.
