French Davis Cup stars now looking at the Open de Moselle
Three of the prominent tennis players at the Davis Cup, Michael Llodra, Gael Monfils as well as Arnaud Clement are now contesting at the Open de Moselle tennis tournament this week in Metz. The trio is fresh off a promising performance in the semi final
match of the 2010 Davis Cup tennis competition versus the Czech Republic.
After a seven days break for the 2010 Davis Cup championship following the year’s last Grand Slam, the United States Open tennis tournament, the ATP Tour is back in action with the Open de Moselle challenge in France and BCR Open Romania contest in Bucharest.
In France, however, a couple of contenders did not have the previous week off. France contested host to the Czech Republic in the semi final match of the Davis Cup tennis competition and swept up a 5-0 victory.
Now, some of the French team players including Arnaud Clement, Gilles Simon, Michael Llodra as well as Gael Monfils are all making a short visit to the Open de Moselle in Metz.
The twenty-four year old Gael, who received a first round bye as the second seeded player to win the title in Metz, played his second round Davis Cup clash versus David Nalbandian. The Paris born tennis ace, at last won the battle after a tight clash in
a total of two sets. Michael Llodra, on the other hand who is seeded number five at the Open de Moselle tennis tournament in France, opened his Davis Cup campaign by playing against Juan Monaco. Gilles, an eight seeded tennis player also did well to triumph
in the singles match versus Eduardo Schwank in a clash that featured just a single break of serve in a total of three sets in France.
Arnaud is the only unseeded player of the four, and the professional tennis ace from veteran will start his Open de Moselle campaign versus Lukas Lacko. The winner of the match is going to meet the top seeded tennis player, Marin Cilic, who received a late
wild card entry into the championship. Marin, however, has been facing some serious problems in terms of his form and rhythm right from the start of the season.
Gaels and Michael, who are without any question, the two top favourite players to win the trophy in Metz, are in the same draw. Michael is undoubtedly one of the best indoor hard surface contenders in the business. Therefore, he definitely enjoys an upper
hand over Monfils at the Open de Moselle tennis tournament. Gaels, who won the title last year, will have to fight really hard to successfully defend this season in Metz.
Gilles on the other hand, looks to have a friendly draw in a section that also features the third seeded tennis ace, Ivan Ljubicic, who has been going through a bad patch of his professional career and is certainly not in a form that once assisted him in
securing a title at the Indian Wells Master series.
Dustin Brown, an exciting Jamaican tennis ace, could present issues for Gilles in the opening round, however, the French player has bright chances of making his way into the semi final round or beyond without any question.
Fellow countrymen, Richard Gasquet along with the Spaniard tennis player, Tommy Robredo, are the two seeded contenders in the third quarter of the section. Denis Istomin, who gave a stern Test to the world number one, Rafael Nadal at the United States Open
tennis tournament, could face Robredo in the second round. Gasquet's first clash will come against either Adrian Mannarino, a wild card entrant or Paul-Henri Mathieu.
