French International: Judith Meulendijks trounces Sannatasah Saniru to claim Women’s Singles title
Netherlands’ in-form player Judith Meulendijks made her presence felt when she claimed Women’s Singles title after trouncing Malaysia’s Sannatasah Saniru in the final match of the French International 2012 on Sunday, April 8, in France.
The World Number 44 Judith, who was top seed in French Open, proved her superiority against her lower ranked Malaysian opponent and won the crown in an emphatic manner.
The top seeded Dutch shuttler did not spend much time in the court as she took just 30 minutes to stamp her supremacy over Sannatasah in a straight-set contest.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Malaysian shuttler failed to match the class of her rival and bowed down to her in straight games without proving her skills.
In the first set, Judith started her campaign by playing fast badminton at net and she managed to push Sannatasah into a defending position.
In the meanwhile, the Malaysian could not get rid of her opponent’s power play and struggled hard to take the bird early.
Until the mid-game break in first set, Sannatasah was miles behind her Dutch opponent on the score board.
After the one-minute interval, Judith remained on course as she was in full swing and managed to grab the opening game in an elevated fashion by a one-sided 21-12 score on the board.
In the second set, the Malaysian showed glimpses of her craft when she played with aggression and managed to remain equal to her opponent on the board until the end of opening half.
After the break, Judith started to play fast drop shots coupled with occasional smashes on the side lines of the court and remained successful in breaking the rhythm of Sannatasah.
The Malaysian failed to maintain her flow in the concluding part of second set and made many unforced mistakes.
In the meanwhile, Judith was relaxed and positive in the court and she did not face any hassle in ending the second game with a six-point advantage of 21-15.
The Dutch shuttler emerged as victorious in this 30-minute Women’s Singles title match with an inspiring 21-12 and 21-15 score on the board.
