French Ligue 1 Team of the Week: Round one of the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign
After almost a two month break, domestic football is back in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 were able to pick up all three points as Marseille and Lille managed only draws while big spending Paris Saint-Germain lost
to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Lorient-c39153 somewhat surprisingly.
Bettor.com takes a look at the top performers of the first round of the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign.
Stephane Ruffier
Club: AS Saint-Etienne
The Frenchman signed for Les Verts from AS Monaco this summer and proved his importance to his new team by making several important saves to deny Bordeaux a goal that could have given the home side a draw. Christophe Galtier’s side won 2-1 and the Ruffier’s
was the main reason behind Les Verts’ first ever opening day win in almost 20 years.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Debuchy-c24682
Club: LOSC Lille
The Frenchman was by far the best right-back in Ligue 1 last season and he started the new campaign the same way he finished the last one. In Lille’s draw against Nancy, Debuchy was always the extra attacking option and scored a goal as well.
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa
Club: Montpellier Herault
The young defender has been under the radar of many clubs this summer and his stellar performance in the 3-1 opening day win over Auxerre further proved of Mapou’s potential to become one of the best defenders in Europe for years to come.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bruno-c8098 Ecuele
Club: FC Lorient
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabon-c2902 defender was excellent for Les Merlus last season and was once again excellent in his side’s first game of the new campaign as Lorient beat PSG 1-0 at the Parc des Princes. The 23-year-old was great at containing the aerial threat of Guillaume
Hoarau and the cunning of former teammate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Gameiro-c20721.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Franck-Tabanou-c14046
Club: FC Toulouse
The 22-year-old Frenchman was outstanding in Toulouse’s 2-0 win over newly-promoted Ajaccio. The youngster provided an assist and was unlucky to see his effort hit the bar.
Alain Traore
Club: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247
Though Auxerre lost to Montpellier, defensive midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alain-Traoré-c4235 of Auxerre should be proud of his performances despite the loss. The youngster scored a goal for AJA which would eventually prove to be a mere consolation for the Burgundy club.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Nogueira-c36189
Club: Sochaux Montbéliard
The 23-year old Les Lionceaux midfielder is another product of Sochaux’s excellent youth academy. The youngster stood up well to his task of containing the threat posed by Marseille. The youngster really looked at home and scored a cracker to give his side
a 2-1 lead in the second half.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Morgan-Amalfitano-c26799
Club: Olympique de Marseille
The 26-year-old Frenchman could prove to be one of the signings of the season. Signed from Lorient this summer, the former Sedan man excelled in the creative role and could also have an assist or two under his belts had his team-mates not been too wasteful
in front of goal.
Lucho Gonzalez
Club: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127
El Comandante is expected to leave the Rhone giants this summer. However, it seems that so much speculation surrounding his future is not a big issue for the Argentine. Gonzalez was Marseille’s best player in the 2-2 draw against Sochaux and apart from scoring
a goal, created a lot of chances. If the former Porto man chooses to stay at the club, he could play a very important role in Marseille’s quest for a Championelle this season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonathan-Pitroipa-c19052
Club: Stade Rennais
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Burkina-Faso-c2862 international is still new to Ligue 1 football but the 25-year-old showed his potential in Rennais’ 5-1 win over newly-promoted Dijon. His quick turn of pace was a great asset for Rennais and would help the Bretons a lot in their upcoming
UEFA Europa League adventure.
Lisandro Lopez
Club: Olympique Lyonnais
When fit, there is no striker in France who can match Argentine international Lisandro Lopez. The 28-year-old scored a beautiful goal to level the game 1-1 against Nice. His strike changed the course of the encounter as Les Gones ran out 3-1 winners in their
first game of the 2011/2012 campaign.
