Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier Herault were certainly the big winners of the round 22 of this season 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign while Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais were embroiled in a late drama
Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier continue with winning ways
The main lesson learned from the 22nd day of Ligue 1 was that both Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier have already stolen the march ahead of the likes of Olympique Lyonnais and LOSC Lille in a bid to win the Championelle.
Paris Saint-Germain had Nene to be thankful for yet again. The Brazilian scored twice in a 3-1 over the newly-promoted side. Again, this PSG side left lot to be desire but then again, it’s a win that matters. This just goes on to show that PSG can labour
to a win despite difficult circumstances.
Somehow, Montpellier managed a win by the shortest of margins against Stade Brestois. Rene Girard’s men dominated the game albeit some resolute defence from Brest and it was Dernis who finally got his name on the score sheet.
Both sides are setting the pace in Ligue 1 and as things stand, the two could be in for a title race that is surely to go down the wire.
Olympique Lyonnais specialise in comebacks
Facing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 played their Rhone neighbours in probably,
the most exciting game of the Round 22.
At half-time, Remi Garde’s men were two goals down. However, Les Gones once again showed their strength of character by scoring two goals. One goal came from Bafetimbi Gomis while the second goal had a big slice of fortune behind it. Inadvertently, Souleymane
Diawara saw a deflection send the ball beyond Marseille goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steve-Mandanda-c34177.
Rennais struggling
Stade Rennais have certainly been a disappointing side in recent weeks. The Britons were held to a draw by Nancy Lorraine at home and Frederic Antonetti has to somehow guide his side back to winning ways if they are to make it to the last European berth
by the end of the campaign.
Bordeaux keep on rising
The start of 2012 has been excellent for FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Recovery has been augured. In their last five games, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francis-c13946 Gillot’s men have had three wins, one defeat and one draw which is certainly not bad for a side that was flirting with relegation
for most part of the first half of the campaign.
Les Girondins played a tricky encounter with Toulouse. The game ended with a 2-0 win for the Aquitaine side who remain in 9th place. Though their position has not changed, the victory gives them a lot of confidence.
Relegation battle to go down the wire
The postponement of the game between Auxerre and Sochaux has been benefited by some clubs mired in relegation woes. Ajaccio are still three points off the relegation zone. Same goes for Nancy Lorraine who earned a respectable draw against 6th
placed Stade Rennais at the Stade de la Route de Lorient.
Despite losing at home to Valenciennes (1-2), Dijon stay in 16th place while OGC Nice moved from 20th to 18th place. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Lorient-c39153 are in 10th place and seven points away from the relegation zone which would be a
big comfort for coach Christian Gourcuff.
