French Ligue 1 special: Ligue 1 players without clubs after end of summer transfer window
Following a flurry of activities in the final few days of this summer’s transfer window, there are still many players who are without a club. The likes of Traore, Runje, Chimbonda and Diarra (ex-AS Monaco) who are all experienced players
failed to find clubs for themselves due to various reasons.
Bettor.com takes a look at some of the players who are still club-less and might have to wait till December’s end to find a new club.

The experienced goalkeeper was ignored throughout the summer after his contract with Lens expired. The former Marseille shot-stopper from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Croatia-c2879 might consider retiring after the transfer window proved that the time of retirement is around the corner for
the 35-year-old.
 http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pascal-Chimbonda-c29196
The 32-year-old Frenchman was once considered one of the most talented right-backs during his time at Wigan. A move to Tottenham should have been another step in Chimbonda’s rise. However, things have changed drastically over the years for the Frenchman
who failed to impress any club following the expiry of his contract at Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314.
Though Chimbonda has said that he is patient, a lot can change if he fails to find a club in the next transfer window.
 Sammy Traore
The former Paris Saint-Germain man was not given an extension to his contract at PSG and at the age of 35, it seems that his best years are past him as he failed to land a new club this summer.
 Sandy Paillot
The former Grenoble man was once touted as a great defender in the making during his time at Lyon. However, since his move to Grenoble, his career has been considered as a slow descent to obscurity. Though he is only 24, no club in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 took at second
glance at Paillot’s CV.
 http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mahamadou-Diarra-c23077
The 30-year-old midfielder was once a great prospect at Real Madrid but a serious knee injury during his loan spell at AS Monaco last season turned out to be a major factor that contributed in many clubs’ ignorance of the player’s stature. Moves to Stoke,
Fulham and Lyon were reported but nothing materialized.
 Sidi Yaya Keita
Once acknowledged as a rising star in Ligue 1, the 26-year-old midfielder was not offered a new contract by Lens and was left without a club this summer. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bursaspor-c38700 and Wolverhampton did consider signing Keita but nothing concrete was offered as another Ligue
1 player was left without a club contract this summer.
 Fode Mansare
The 29-year-old Mansare’s injury forced Toulouse to end his contract at the Pink City. Mansare ruptured hi anterior ligament in his right knee and the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Guinea-c2914 international will be out for several months which was the main reason why he was not offered a
contract this summer.
 Kanga Akale
The 30-year-old left-sided midfielder was never a consistent performer despite showing so much promise at a young age. Lens chose not to offer Akale a new contract and although many clubs were interested in his services, nothing concrete ever happened which
means that like so many players in France; Akale will also have to wait until the next transfer window to find a club.
